Rise of the Movement

Rotary International was born in 1905 in Chicago , when an American lawyer Paul Harris with a group of friends founded the first club . Rotary name was due to the rotational nature of the places where they met members of the club . The idea of ​​Rotary developing very rapidly – in 1921 there were already clubs on all continents , and the organization adopted the name Rotary International . In 1928, the Foundation of Rotary , which are funded educational programs , promoting international understanding and humanitarian actions . The year 2005 has a special significance for Rotary – the hundredth anniversary of the founding of the organization.

Rotary in Poland

Tradition rotariańskiego movement in Poland dates back to the twentieth anniversary of when he created the first Polish clubs . The outbreak of the war and the period of the communist era caused the suspension of Rotary in Poland. This activity was again revived in the early 90s . Currently, there are over 50 Rotary clubs belonging to the District No. 2230 , including in addition to Polish , even Ukraine and Belarus. Only in Warsaw, currently operates eight Rotary clubs whose members are people of good will , representatives of science and culture, entrepreneurs and others who want to serve the public .
